LocArk

LocArk is a local-first personal workspace for Mac that brings Markdown notes, password records, kanban boards, mind maps, and a quick-capture Inbox together. Rather than hosting your content on its own servers, it stores the workspace in a folder you choose. New workspaces are locally encrypted and protected by a master password.

Notes and passwords in one workspace

Write and organize Markdown notes with preview, search, images, attachments, and version history. Spaces, categories, and nested folders help keep different projects and records separate, while the Inbox provides a place to capture loose ideas.

The built-in password vault stores logins, payment-card details, and other private records. It includes a password generator, quick-copy actions, automatic locking, and clipboard clearing. Passwords can be imported from supported 1Password, Bitwarden, or generic CSV exports, but LocArk does not provide browser autofill, passkeys, or built-in two-factor authentication codes.

Personal boards and visual planning

With Pro, users can create kanban boards with custom columns, task priorities, and due dates, or build mind maps for outlining ideas and export them as PNG images. These tools sit alongside notes and passwords rather than in separate project apps. LocArk is designed for individual use, not real-time team collaboration.

Offline storage and pricing

Core editing works offline. A workspace can be placed in a compatible iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive folder for user-managed file sync, but LocArk has no built-in cloud sync. Users are responsible for backups, sync conflicts, and keeping their master password safe; an unrecoverable password can mean losing access to encrypted data.

Notes, password records, and Inbox are free. Pro adds creation of kanban boards and mind maps plus unlimited custom password templates. Website purchases cost $4.90 per year or $24.90 for a lifetime licence; Mac App Store pricing may differ. LocArk requires macOS 12.0 or later, supports Intel and Apple silicon Macs, and is installed through the Mac App Store.
