Hushtop is a native macOS utility that turns the MacBook camera notch into an expandable, Dynamic Island-style dashboard. It brings live music, upcoming meetings, headphone status and quick tools to the top of the screen, while giving developers a place to monitor and answer Claude Code and Codex requests. On Macs without a notch, it uses a floating island.

The Dev panel lists active agent sessions, their projects and current work, usage limits and requests needing attention. Permission prompts can be allowed or denied in the notch, or opened in the correct terminal window. To enable approvals, Hushtop adds hooks to agent configuration files, shows the proposed changes and keeps backups. Unanswered prompts fall back to the terminal rather than being auto-approved. It can also keep the Mac awake while agents or builds run, with battery and heat limits.

Everyday controls

  • Control Spotify, Apple Music and browser playback; optionally show synced lyrics from LRCLIB.
  • See meeting countdowns and join calls; check AirPods battery for each earbud and the case.
  • Search clipboard history, save quick notes or park files in a drop shelf.
  • Use focus timers, system vitals, a per-app volume mixer and customizable Home widgets.
  • Choose an optional animated notch pet or find actions from the keyboard-driven command palette.

Compatibility, permissions and price

Hushtop requires macOS 15 or later. Apple silicon Macs are supported; Intel support is in beta. The Liquid Glass theme and Apple Intelligence features need macOS 26, and Apple Intelligence also requires Apple silicon. Download the signed, notarized DMG, move the app to Applications and grant Accessibility access during setup; other permissions are requested as needed. The developer reports no telemetry, but license and update checks use the network, as do opt-in services such as lyrics.

The full-featured trial lasts seven days without an account or card. The current $9.99 launch offer is a one-time license for one Mac with lifetime updates; the developer lists $12.99 as the later price. After the trial, Hushtop Lite keeps music and basic audio controls free, while the other modules require a license.
