Vidyst
Live stream, record in 4K, and host podcasts with simultaneous horizontal and vertical output.
Vidyst is a native macOS live-streaming and recording studio for creators who want to produce a show, podcast, or screen recording without assembling several separate tools. Its distinguishing feature is a dual canvas: the same session can be produced in horizontal (16:9) and vertical (9:16) formats simultaneously.
Stream in two formats from one studio
Connect YouTube, Twitch, Kick, X, Instagram, or a service that accepts a custom stream key. Vidyst combines cameras, screen captures, and overlays in a live preview, with layouts that can be switched during a broadcast. It also brings supported live-chat conversations into one panel, where messages can be selected for on-screen display.
Record, invite guests, and control the show
-
Record up to 4K at 60 fps, with MP4, MOV, MKV, Apple ProRes, and hardware HEVC options.
-
Invite remote guests through a browser link; they do not need to install Vidyst or create an account. Backstage chat and separate audio tracks support podcast production.
-
Control scenes, camera frames, backgrounds, visual elements, filters and audio processing during recordings or streams.
-
Use noise reduction and echo cancellation, optional file splitting, and recording recovery after interruptions. An unexpected stop can still cut off the final part of a recording.
-
Control the Mac studio from a compatible iPhone or iPad using the separate Vidyst Remote app.
Compatibility, privacy, and plans
Vidyst requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or newer) with macOS 14.2 or later; Intel Macs are not supported. Capture, mixing, and recording take place on the Mac, although guest calls use an encrypted third-party media relay and streaming sends content to your selected platforms. A Vidyst account is required.
There is a 14-day trial without a credit card, but no permanent free plan. Basic costs $10/month and allows two simultaneous destinations and two guests. Creator costs $35/month and raises those limits to seven destinations and ten guests. Both plans include the core recording and dual-canvas features.
