Jolt
Natural-language Mac launcher for searching files, finding app commands, and controlling your Mac.
Jolt is a native macOS launcher for finding files, running commands in the app you are using, and controlling parts of your Mac with everyday language. It combines a searchable launcher with semantic file search and command matching powered by TypeSafe AI's Jev model, so you can describe an action rather than remember a filename or menu location.
Find files without exact filenames
Jolt searches selected folders using natural-language queries and the names of files and folders. You can preview a match, open it, copy it, or drag it directly into another app. Its approach is useful when you remember what a file is about but not exactly what you named it.
Run commands across apps and macOS
Rather than navigating through menu after menu, describe what you want to do. Jolt looks for matching commands in the currently active app, including actions hidden deeper in its menus. It also supports macOS controls and settings, music controls, and web searches through services such as Google and YouTube.
Jolt includes a clipboard manager, bringing another frequently used tool into the same launcher.
Compatibility, privacy, and beta access
Jolt's public beta is free and requires macOS 14 or later on an Apple silicon Mac; Intel Macs are not supported. No permanent free plan or future paid price has been confirmed.
The developers say you choose which folders Jolt searches, file contents stay on your device, and the app does not request Full Disk Access. However, its natural-language command matching uses the Jev service, so the on-device file-content claim should not be mistaken for a promise that all processing happens offline. Jolt remains a beta, and its features and terms may change.
