Openbroca is a native AI dictation app for macOS that turns spoken drafts into polished text in whichever app has the cursor. It recognizes speech in the cloud, removes fillers and false starts, and aims to preserve the speaker’s meaning and tone instead of simply producing a verbatim transcript. It is designed for emails, messages, notes, documents and AI prompts without opening a separate editor.
Dictation where you're already typing
Press Option–Space (⌥ Space) to start or stop recording, or hold the shortcut while speaking. Openbroca inserts the result into the focused field; if insertion is unavailable, it copies the text for pasting. A second shortcut recalls the previous transcript. A compact status indicator can appear near the notch or at the bottom of the display. Microphone choice, shortcuts and launch-at-login are configurable.

Free usage, requirements and privacy
Openbroca requires macOS 15 or later on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac, an internet connection and Google or GitHub sign-in. Microphone and Accessibility permissions enable recording and text insertion; Screen Recording permission is required only for optional Screen Context.
The permanent free tier includes every feature and 3,000 text units each week (not 3,000 words or minutes). Extra usage is available as 30,000 non-expiring units for CNY 9.90, or Unlimited at $6.99/month or $59.99/year. Non-renewing payments for fixed periods of Unlimited access are also offered.
Openbroca says it does not store audio, although third-party AI services process recordings. Raw and refined transcripts, request logs and any collected Screen Context remain stored with the account until deletion. The MIT-licensed Openbroca Origin GitHub project is a separate Electron application, not the source code for this native Swift app.
